Our Mission:

Our mission is to win souls and foster teaching, healing and hope emphasizing victory through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Vision: 

A Closer Walk Christian Ministries is a non-denominational Christian church committed to bringing hope to the community, the nation and the world through bible focused worship services and training.  Worship services will use illustrations, the creative arts and bible centered teaching and preaching to emphasize the importance of an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus. 

As the members are trained to actively accept and pursue a relationship with Christ, transformation, healing and spiritual freedom will result in saved men, women and children committed to putting salvation in action for the glory and advancement of kingdom of God.  Members will are encouraged to serve in a ministry according to the gift the Lord has purposed with the support and discernment of  pastor.

We are committed to evangelism and active outreach projects particularly in the areas of counseling, education, health, life skills, transition following incarceration, parenting skills,, and missions.

Ministries

Christian Education…Every new member will be required to complete a new members class detailing the foundation of God’s plan for salvation and God’s expectation of believers.  The six week class will be taught by Pastor-Garner and will emphasize the mission of ACW; training disciples to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Other bible study classes will include:  weekly small group sessions for adult, youth and children with the goal of discipleship through increased knowledge of life application of the Word of God.

Evangelism Ministry…ACW visits targeted areas in the community every third Saturday to share the love of Christ and provides prayer and encouragement every first Sunday to patients and staff at Southern Maryland Hospital.

Worship Ministry…The worship ministry includes music, drama, dance, poetry and other genres of the creative arts used to provide bible centered worship for all services.***

Women’s Ministry…ACW’s women ministry will provide a network for members, 21 and above to fellowship and mature spiritually through trainings, fellowship retreats, prayer services and bible study.  ACW’s women will be encouraged to attend parenting seminars and given opportunities to mentor girls ages 6 to 16 at the pastor’s discretion. ***

The Women’s Ministry will also be encouraged to attend annual meetings of the Women in Shared Ministry (WISM); a national organization purposed to coach, train and mentor women to do the work of ministry.  WISM is under the covering of ACW.

Men’s Ministry….Men, 21 and over, will be taught their role as men of God through fellowship, leadership training, and discipleship.  They will have a network by which to grow spiritually and solid biblical teachings; including quarterly retreats.    A component of the men’s ministry will be parenting seminars and opportunities to mentor fatherless boys ages 6 to 16. ***

Youth Ministry…The youth ministry will include youth members as well as youth in the community.  Activities will include mentoring, training, discipling, tutoring and regular worship services targeted to youth. ***

Children’s Ministry…ACW’s children will receive weekly bible study, as well as training and discipleship through a bible centered education program targeted to specific age groups.  Parents will be required to attend annual retreats with their children.  The ministry will also include children’s church, where the children will receive the weekly message through interactive and creative activities. ***

What We Believe:

	We believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
	We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
	We believe in the deity of Jesus of Nazareth, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
	We believe that for salvation of the lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
	We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
	We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
	We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
	We believe in the return of the Lord Jesus Christ who will reward everyone according to His gospel.
